Ode to Sweetgrass Basketry
Recently, inspired by sweetgrass basket weaving I decided to do a series dedicated to the Gullah-Geeche sweetgrass weaving tradition brought to American by African slaves.
I manipulate recycled corrugated cardboard to simulate the strands of the sweetgrass fibers and use other paper products to simulate the coiling process.
