Artistic process

20240510_214825.jpg

Cannon-Karlos' new work consists of deconstructing recycled cardboard and transforming it into an alternative surface to create new imagery. This innovative approach challenges the traditional use of materials in art, resulting in unique and thought-provoking pieces. Through a combination of creativity and sustainability, Cannon-Karlos aims to redefine artistic expression and environmental consciousness.

Cannon-Karlos starts each project with a simple line sketch thats then transferred to the prepared corrugated cardboard surface. Using her deconstructing techniques, Cannon-Karlos captures the best possible way to bring her sketch to life with the various layers and textures she creates.

Following the lengthy deconstructing and layering process Cannon-Karlos paints the composition, using the paint to further enhance the original design and multiple textural elements that she has rendered.

The resulting imagery quality and tangibility is reminiscent of intaglio, relief and other texture laden printmaking methods.  The project is then mounted on wooden panels for professional display.
